Dear Hasbro: I AM DISSAPOINT IN LACK OF FLUTTERSHY.

So I remedied this problem. But no, Fluttershy can't just have her mane re-sculpted and call it a day -- best pony deserves better! So because Hasbro refused to give her own sculpt, I tried my best to do that for myself. I took a pinkie pie recolor and chopped off ALL the hair and the back leg (a lot of work and sanding, trust me!) and took some wings from a rainbow recolor. Then I resculpted her leg, her mane and tail, and painted her over.

She's already sold, but I'd be more than glad to make another!

How on earth did you get the hair off?

Oh, lol, an exacto knife and several sanding sponges! I recently got a dremel tool for christmas which makes the sanding way easier, but it's possible with patience to do it with a sanding sponge! Chop off the big bits with an exacto, making sure to have a lot of extra blades. Once they get dull it's easy for them to slip and cut you! I've done it too many times ^^; After you cut everything off, you go at it with the big, gritty sponge and go to a medium one, and finally a nice fine grit to finish it all off!

now that is not bad at all like the eye and the fact it is more fitting a pose then the oringinal.

Very, very cool. I'm definitely going to borrow some inspiration from how you shaped the mane for my project. But in my case, I want to keep the "crystal" look for all 6 of them, so I'm going to limit it to re-sculpting the mane and tail. =)

Hadn't occurred to me that the pinky model does look more natural as a pose for Flutter. The rearing-up dash pose isn't the best fit.

Oh wow, thanks! Good luck with that. I've thought about resculpting a glittery crystal set Fluttershy, but there's the clear-ness to think about...are you going to use translucent sculpty, or regular opaque and cover it in some glitter? Took a look at your gallery, you did a great job removing the mane O_O Whenever I do it I sand it so much that I sand off the eyes!

Yeah, it really is. I hadn't thought about it until I accidentally got two recolor pinkies once. I really prefer this look, though. Too bad Hasbro won't give her her own pose!

I used some pink sculpey that was close in color to her mane. Not planning to glitter it, as I'm painting the manes on the other 5 glitter versions that I have of the mane-6. AJ and Rarity are in my gallery elsewhere. These pics show a metallic Applejack, but I have a glitter version of her as well. Almost done with Twilight, then on to the others, as work and wife/kid schedules allow.

Being my first try at using it, I didn't add any grooves or lines in it, so her hair turned out as a smooth surface. I'm going to make a 2nd go at it, as I wasn't completely happy with the way it turned out, though I may still post the pictures of this first try.

The baking process made the clear plastic very slightly cloudy.

Ah, that's a great idea! Make them a bit more show accurate.
Yeah, adding lines really brings it out a lot, but post first attempts too. They're not always bad!
Also, as a hint, if you want to get rid of glitter on the mane before repaint, 100% acetone nail polish remover will take the glitter off if you soak it long enough.
